Human-Caused Climate Change is Real — But Fewer Americans Think So
While a majority of Americans believe that climate change is real and its pace is increasing, the declining percentage of those who believe it is caused mostly or entirely by humans is concerning. And it's especially concerning that we are losing so much ground among Democrats.
The drop in belief was also widespread across education levels and age groups, indicating that current education and awareness-raising campaigns are not effective. It may reflect a lack of trust in scientific consensus or a perceived lack of urgency in addressing climate change. Obviously, media also has a huge role here.
Overall, these findings highlight the need for continued education and communication efforts about the causes and consequences of human-caused climate change — though it seems we may need to adjust our tactics.
